Jurong Point's Most Innovative Family!

Here ares some event photos in a recent Family Challenge event at Jurong Point!

The objective is for families to use unwanted household items to make/construct them into useful things on the spot! Here are what some of the contestants did!

Contestants have to first pit their skills in simple challenges to gain points!

Using the points, they will go to the "Marketplace" to buy items/tools for them to construct their final product!

Interviewing one of the judges of the event! A very pretty Architect! :)

The 1st team constructed a fold-able study chair and table for the kids' study room from scrape and unwanted cabinet doors.. The pen-holder on the table is made from ice-cream sticks!

The 2nd team made a "Study-Chair" with a Lamp made from the stalk of rose. The "tweety-bird" you see is the the cover from a broken file.

Team 3 made a Christmas Tree from old newspapers! Lots of effort as they only cut out all the "green colored" pages from old newspapers! Their concept is using "Paper to construct a tree" where Trees are supposed to make us Paper! Woo !

The winner is Team 1! Based on Panel and Audience Judging! Winner walks away with $3000 Cash Vouchers and 6 months household utilities rebate !

That's a super deal for making household items from unwanted materials!

Call-In Listener: 30th March 2009

On 30th March 2009,

A listener called in and said:

"I am the modern Yang Guo. I want to dedicate a song to my beloved Xiao Long Nu."

"Xiao Long Nu, i have expressed my love so many times to you. I do not want to hear your SMSes anymore. Today, i express my love to you over national radio and i hope you will officially accept me."

"I know you listen to this radio programme at night. Please give me a call right after this to tell me you want to be with me."

"Lastly, I want to say i love you and will be beside you, carrying you, loving you, supporting you always."

================================================

Not sure if anyone of you catch this segment on air! It sure was touching and sincere. Yang Guo even went on to read a 2-minute long Love Letter to Xiao Long Nu. Wooo :) Lots of effort indeed!

On a side note, while searching for pictures from "Condor Heroes" to put up, i found so so many versions with various lead actors/actresses. Still, nothing beats the Andy Lau version of Condor Heroes in my opinion! :)

Call-In Listener: 25th March 2009

On March 25th 2009,

A listener called in and said:
"I feel very lost now. I just lost $1,000 over the phone. I received a call in the morning claiming that my son has been kidnapped. They demanded for $10,000 and i told them i only had $1,000. To save my son, they insist i transfer the money as soon as i can to some place in China"

"I was very scared as i hear a boy crying very loudly shouting for help. I was too overwhelmed by fear and did everything they said without trying to call & clarify this with my son."

"How i wish i was calm. The $1,000 took me a very very long time to save. Now its all gone. Just like this....I'm totally devastated."
=================================================

A quick reminder to all the listeners out there! Please beware and be on the alert for such calls to your homes! Many listeners called in right after the story was shared and mentioned they had similar encounters recently..

If you happen to hear "a kid shouting" in the background during the tele-conversation, please try to stay calm and think rationally! Anything, call the police and seek for help!
